Every year in September the Danish Wine Award Show, ‘Dansk Vinskue’, is organised by ‘Foreningen Dansk Vin’ (FDV). This is the chance for Danish wine producers to show their wines to both colleagues, judges and a broader audience.
Members of FDV submit their wines made from grapes or fruit (fruit wines are judged in a separate category), cider and mead, which are judged by a panel of sommeliers, wine journalists and wine specialist salesmen.
This year 283 wines were judged and presented at the show, which took place in Fredericia on September 18th with a total of close to 400 attendees; exhibitors and visitors.
In 2021 9 gold medals, 7 silver medals and 39 bronze medals were awarded to wines across the categories.
The big winner in 2021 was Frederiksdal Kirsebærvin, who won no less than four gold medals as well as the winemaker of the year ‘Årets Danske Vinmager’ award (the highest rated wine of the show). Winemaker at Frederiksdal Kirsebærvin is Denmark’s first Master of Wine, Jonas Tofterup MW.
No less exciting, though, is it to notice the number of very small-scale wine producers from different parts of Denmark, who get it all right and are rightfully rewarded. This year was no exception, as the list of gold medal winners shows.
