Le Mondial des Vins Blancs 2025 to take place this April, 2025 marks the inclusion of dealcoholized and partially dealcoholized wines in the competition

The 27th edition of Le Mondial des Vins Blancs is will take place early April in Strasbourg.

The competition is the only global competition, which is entirely dedicated to the diversity of the world’s white wines, and wines from every continent will be challenging each other.

Since its earliest days as Riesling du Monde in Strasbourg back in 1998, the competition has been recognizing the great white wines from around the world.

In 2025, the competition is scheduled for April 5th and 6th at the Congress Centre Strasbourg in France.

Honouring world class whites

Le Mondial des Vins Blancs Strasbourg is organized under the patronage of the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV) and is also a member of the World Federation of Major International Wine and Spirits (VinoFed).

The contest covers white wines from 12 categories including 10 categories for specific grape varieties as well as 2 ones for blends and any white wine grape variety of the world.

Since 2022, orange wines have been part of the competition and the 2024 competition saw sparkling wines entering the competition for the very first time.

We see it more and more around the world, that the sales of no- and low-alcoholic wines as a category continue to grow in importance. Dealcoholized wines contain no more than 0,5% alcohol with partially dealcoholized wines sit between 0,5 and 8,5%.

In line with OIV rules, no more than 30% Gold and Silver medals are to be awarded in each category and for the 2024 competition, 651 wines from 20 countries across the world were submitted to the competition and a total of 194 Grand Gold, Gold and Silver medals were awarded to producers from as many as 14 out of the 20 countries.

In 2024, three favourites were recognized: “First entry”, “Sparkling wine” and “Orange wine”. Those prices were awarded to producers from Andorra, France and France respectively.

Le Mondial des Vins Blancs Strasbourg awards the prestigious awards Le Grand Prix du Jury and Le Trophée VINOFED and furthermore, in each of the 12 categories the best dry white is recognized.

The 2024 Le Grand Prix du Jury was awarded to Alsatian producer Domaine Ruhlmann-Schutz for their Gewurztraminer Vendages Tardives 2021 and Le Trophée VINOFED was won by Vinarstvi Josef Valihrach from the Czech Republic for their Cabernet Blanc 2022.

I really feel, that it would make perfect sense for wines from marginal climates such as Denmark and Sweden to participate and have each country’s superior wines judged by expert jurors from all over the world.

Worth noting for every potential participant is, that wine-searcher.com is referencing all medal winning wines from VINOFED members’ competitions and this is known for really boosting sales of the medal winning wines.

Registrations for the 2025 competition are open until March 5th and more info is found at www.mondial-vins-blancs.com/en/
